Upgraded Water Lines and Sewer Projects for the City of Centre

The City Water Works is installing new water lines on College Street from South River Street to Garrett Drive. Presently, they are 3/4 of the way to completion of this project.

Monday, November 14, 2011 City Water Works will begin a Sewer Project down Tates Chapel Road starting at Happy China. This project is picking up some people who have been having problems with their septic systems in an effort to help clean up the lake from seepage.

Monday, November 28, 2011 City Water Works will begin replacing 6″ water lines installed in 1947 with new 10″ water lines in the downtown area to support new fire hydrants. Areas that will be affected will be Main Street from Cherokee Glass east to the old Centre Middle School, between Regions and the Courthouse, below the Cherokee County Detention Center on the right side to Chestnut Bypass. There will be road hazards involved in these projects and some lanes may even be closed. The City urges drivers to be patient and cautious.
